To die slowly over time. With an illness like this, Jamie's tumors will keep growing and she will die by inches—unless we do the experimental surgery. Though the accident left Grandma unable to breathe or walk on her own, she did survive—only to die by inches months later. I would have done more with my life if I'd known that I'd ultimately die by inches in excruciating pain.
