To smash something into fragments. A noun or pronoun is usually used between "dash" and "to." In a fit of anger, I dashed the plate to pieces. He didn't think I was serious about breaking up until I dashed the framed photo of us to pieces. Quit fiddling with that vase before you dash it to pieces!
