dap it up

slang To grasp someone's hand by the palms with one's thumb hooked around theirs, then sliding each other's hands apart until grasping each other's fingertips. Used as a gesture of greeting, celebration, agreement, or enthusiasm. Primarily heard in US. We all dapped it up with John after he sank the game-winning shot from the three-point line. My grandma is the coolest. She always daps it up with my friends whenever she sees them. I went to shake Chris's hand like normal as he came in to dap it up, which made for a slightly awkward exchange.
