dance out of time

dance out of time

To dance without following or maintaining the proper rhythm (along with someone or something). My date kept dancing out of time with me throughout our entire prom. It was so embarrassing! Ugh, no matter how hard I try, I always seem to dance out of time! If you really want to hit the dance floor with me, please know that I have no sense of time. Just expect me to dance out of time!
