1. Physically flattened or injured by the weight or force of something. Molly had to go to the hospital after her hand was crushed by one of the doors in the lobby. That poor girl was practically crushed by the weight of the singer's screaming fans as they converged in front of the stage. Why are characters in cartoons always being crushed by anvils? Have you ever even seen an anvil in real life?
2. Saddened or discouraged by something. Henry was totally crushed by the news that he didn't get into his dream school. How is she doing? I know she was just absolutely crushed by her mother's sudden death. Rejection is just part of life, so try not to get too crushed by it.
