cross (one's) bridges before (one) gets to them

proverb To be very concerned or make a decision about something that has not happened yet. Because of my anxiety, I tend to cross my bridges before I come to them. A: "What if I don't get the job?" B: "They haven't even called you yet. Don't cross your bridges before you get to them." A: "Should we reach out to our distributors and let them know there may be a problem down the line?" B: "No, there's no reason to cross our bridges before we get to them."
