common purse

common purse

A monetary fund shared by members of a community or group to be used for group issues or activities. Our dues go to a common purse that any of us can draw from for reimbursement if we buy anything for the clubhouse. Do we have enough left in the common purse to cover that repair? Before we start this meeting, the treasurer is going to come around and collect all of your contributions to the common purse.
