To establish one's opinion or view as being in support of a particular side of an issue. I think the jury is going to come out on the side of the plaintiff. This issue is unjust, and as your mayor, I promise to come out on the side of equality. The candidate needs all the votes he can get, so he knows better than to definitively come out on the side of liberals or conservatives on this issue.
