come into a (small) fortune
To obtain a large amount of money suddenly, often through inheritance. I heard that she came into a small fortune when her grandfather died. A: "I'm sorry, did she just say she's sending a private jet for us?" B: "Oh yeah, haven't you heard? Once she sold that app she made, she came into a fortune!" Now that that lawsuit has been decided in my favor, I've come into a small fortune.
