chuck (something) down

To eat something quickly. The puppy really chucked that food down—he must have been starving. He chucked his dinner down because he was already late for the airport. The kids ran to the table, chucked their lunch down, and ran right back outside to play.

chuck it down

To rain heavily and constantly. Primarily heard in UK. We had great weather last week, but it's been chucking it down all weekend long. I wish I could turn the kids loose outside, but it's been chucking it down all afternoon. I'm soaked because the sky started chucking it down just as I began cycling home.
