chips with everything

Describing basic or unvaried taste in food, particularly in unhealthy food (as of one who would literally eat chips—or French fries—with every dish). Primarily heard in UK. I hope the doctor is able to show Dad the error of his "chips with everything" ways now, before it's too late and we lose him to a heart attack or something. The kids want to go to a chips-with-everything sort of place, of course—they never want a vegetable unless it's fried. She's a chips-with-everything kind of gal, so as long as there are chips coming with the takeaway, she'll be happy.
