euphemism Sexual or other amorous activity, as may be done on a couch or sofa (commonly called a "chesterfield" in Canadian English). Primarily heard in Canada. Many parents are worried that teens are starting to play chesterfield rugby at far too early an age these days. Well, they leapt apart and were blushing profusely when we walked in, so I bet we interrupted some chesterfield rugby. I know Sally isn't allowed to be alone in her room with her boyfriend, but they could still play some chesterfield rugby in the basement.
