To keep something a secret forever (i.e., until one dies). A: "Promise me that you won't tell anyone about my affair with Marius!" B: "I will carry it to my grave, I swear." The goons made sure that the accountant would be carrying the details about the mob's money-laundering operation to the grave. The company uses extreme non-disclosure agreements to ensure all employees carry its research to the grave.
