Said when something is too obvious or conspicuous to overlook. Hey, Tom—I couldn't help noticing that you've been coming in late each morning. Care to explain why? I can't help noticing a trend in your son's behavior that is a little bit disturbing. A: "I'm sorry, honey, but I can't help noticing what looks like termite damage in your basement." B: "Dad!"
