call time on (something)

To (take action or make a decision to) end or conclude something. You need to call time on this relationship—it's just too toxic. Once our funding was slashed, we had no choice but to call time on our research project. If you hate your job that much, you need to call time on it and find a new one.

COMMON If you call time on something, you end it. Scott Hastings has called time on his international career by cutting short his contract. Note: This expression originates in British pubs where the landlord calls time to tell drinkers that the pub is about to close.
