bring (one) through (something)

To help one to survive or overcome a challenging experience. The support of family and friends is all that brought me through the dark days right after my husband's death. My physical therapist's efforts and encouragement brought me through rehab, and now I can walk again! I think his wife's unwavering love is brought him through his battle with prostate cancer.
