To stop thinking or talking about something. Mom has tried to bring down the shutters on John's death, but I know she's still very upset about it. You need to bring down the shutters on that idea—it will only bring us trouble. It's been three years since we broke up, but I still can't seem to bring down the shutters on our relationship.
