Said of the spray at the bow of a fast-moving ship. (The white foam on either side of the bow are thought to resemble an animal carrying a bone in its mouth.) Look at that beautiful gal with a bone in her teeth! Have you ever seen a lovelier sight on the waters? On the docks, we stood awestruck, gaping at the approaching ship with the bone in her teeth. No, Captain, there's no finer sight than the sun rising over a ship with a bone in her teeth.
