To discover new and uncharted territory or do something that no one has done before. Taken from an introductory phrase from the original Star Trek television series, "to boldly go where no man has gone before." The scientists are exploring radical new treatment methods, boldly going where no man has gone before in the hopes of curing cancer. With the surface of the planet largely documented, one must enter the depths of the sea to boldly go where no man has gone before. I became a scientist because I wanted to boldly go where no man has gone before, not fill out paperwork all day!
