blow (someone or something) to pieces

To explode or otherwise destroy someone or something into tiny, fragmentary pieces. The demolition crew came in and blew the house to pieces. The small band of rebels didn't stand a chance—they were blown to pieces as soon as the loyalists had them in sight. The typhoon's gale-force winds blew the village to pieces.
