1. To be worth the cost or work involved to attain something; to have benefits that outweigh the costs. Getting up early to jog is tough, but it'll be worth it when you can come home from work and not have to worry about exercising. This tool set cost me an entire paycheck, but it has been worth it—I've already used it for six different projects. You need to stop doing all this dumb, dangerous stuff just to prove you're one of the cool kids—it's not worth it.
2. To be worthy of something; to be deserving of something. I know the ring is expensive, but Jane is worth it. I want her to have exactly what she wants. Yes, it will take some work to implement more eco-friendly shipping practices in our company, but Mother Earth is worth it, is she not? If you have to change who you are so that this guy will like you, he's probably not worth it, honestly.
