To be in a state in which the elements of the situation are functioning or occurring as desired due to sufficient management; to have been managed or handled so that the desired conditions continue. The babysitter said that the kids are already in bed, and everything is under control. That leak is not under control—you need to call a plumber. It's so frustrating how the boss always wants to micromanage my department, even though everything is under control!
