To be forced or put into a position of widespread fame, attention, and scrutiny. Because of his famous parents, the young boy was thrust into the public eye from a very young age. I was happy that my novel was a success, but I wasn't prepared to be thrust into the public eye as a result. Yes, celebrities make a lot of money, but they're also thrust into the public eye. Getting recognized all the time has its drawbacks, I'm sure.
