To not have any or very much money at the moment; to be broke, especially temporarily. Would you mind covering the cost of dinner? I'm a little strapped for cash at the moment. My brother always complains that he's strapped for cash, but he refuses to go find a job! I'm sorry I can't donate more, but I recently got a huge medical bill, and I've been kind of strapped for cash.
