To speak or react to one in a curt or abrupt manner. I'm sorry for being short with you earlier. I've had a lot on my mind lately, and I didn't sleep well last night. Don't take it personally if the boss is short with you. She's just under a lot of pressure right now. Please don't be short with the children like that. They're just asking you questions.
