be out of whack

1. To not or no longer be working or functioning properly. I don't know what's wrong with it, but the computer is totally out of whack—I can't even get past the login screen. The mechanic thinks the carburetor might be out of whack from the collision. I was going to make a smoothie, but the blender is out of whack all of a sudden.
2. To be in a disordered or chaotic state. My whole day is going to be out of whack because of this car accident. Our production timeline is a little out of whack because of the server crash we've been dealing with. When you have twin toddlers, any schedule you come up with is typically out of whack by 9 AM.
