To be dependent on or happen according to someone's authorization or permission. Yes, I'm the manager of this department, but any big changes are on the say-so of the general manager. We're going to start transferring the funds into the new account after all. Don't look at me like that—it was on the say-so of the CFO. Come on, you know it's on the say-so of Mom—I can't give you permission to go.
