To be inaccurate or wrong about someone or something. Wow, I was totally off the mark about what real estate costs around here. We need to start looking in other neighborhoods! I think you'll find that you were off the mark about Paul. He's actually a hard-worker and a genuinely nice guy. Your reporter is completely off the mark about that! I never once said that I was dropping out of the election!
