1. To be unattractive or visually unappealing. After that accident, my car is not a pretty sight—the bumper is practically hanging off! I tried painting the house myself, but the result was not a pretty sight. The kids sure tore through the playroom today. It's not a pretty sight—toys everywhere.
2. Very unpleasant, undesirable, or unfortunate. Did you see the boss tearing into John? Oof, it was not a pretty sight. I hate seeing people in pain, so I get the chills when an athlete is injured. Even "minor" injuries are not a pretty sight. It's not a pretty sight down in HR today—more than half of the department is out with the flu.
