To be a very challenging or formidable opponent for someone or something. Have you seen how fast Molly's been running lately? She's more than a match for me these days—that's why I started training harder. The Lightning are more than a match for this Islanders squad, so I wouldn't be surprised to see the Isles get eliminated. I know I'm more than a match for these other competitors—they don't intimidate me.
