To be full of holes, as due to wear or use. A: "Come on, that's my favorite shirt to play baseball in." B: "Yeah, I can see that—it's in holes!" You can't wash such delicate material in a normal cycle—not unless you want it to be in holes, that is! I know my blankie's in holes, but I can't sleep without it!
