To be worried, anxious, or agitated (about something). Mom is in a stew because all our relatives suddenly decided to come visit us three days from now. I don't understand why you're in such a stew over this trip. Everything will be fine! I'm in a stew because the last page of the directions is missing and I have no idea where I'm going!
