To be very angry, as if one needs to be physically restrained. Mom was fit to be tied after I dented her brand-new car. When I found out that my intern had not done any of the work she'd claimed to, I was fit to be tied! A: "Mom and Dad sure are fit to be tied. What's up with them?" B: "They found out that I'm failing three classes."
