1. To have completed some task or activity. Once we're finished with this project, we'll need to update the database. Let me know when you're finished with mowing the lawn. You better be finished with your book report if you're in here playing video games!
2. To have no further need or desire for someone or something. A: "Thank you for your help with this, Bill." B: "It was my pleasure. If you're finished with me, I'll get back to work at my desk." If you're finished with this old computer, you should donate it to charity. I'm going to give my sister some of these infant clothes, since we're finished with them.
3. To have finished verbally or physically assaulting someone. By the time I'm finished with the prisoner, he'll wish he'd never been born! I felt like an absolute fool when the boss was finished with me. Come on, tough guy, let's take outside! You won't be able to walk by the time I'm finished with you!
4. To no longer want to have an association or relationship with someone or something. I'm finished with Johnny. There's no way I can forgive him. I'm finished with this company. I can't stand by their unethical business practices any longer. I'm sorry, but I think she's finished with you, Alex. You did cheat on her.
