1. To be bitten or stung many times by insects. Come on, let's go inside. We're being eaten alive out here! I forgot to pack any bug repellent, so I was eaten alive for pretty much the whole camping trip. Light a citronella candle so we're not eaten alive, huh?
2. To be totally dominated, outclassed, or humiliated by someone. Typically used in future tense constructions. I thought Jenny would be eaten alive in that industry, but she proved that she had what it took to make a name for herself. You're a rich pretty boy who's never had to do anything for himself. You're going to be eaten alive in prison! With no experience, you'd be eaten alive in a job like that!
