be cast in (something)

To be given an acting role in something, such as a film, TV show, or play. Who do you think will be cast in the next James Bond film? A: "Oh wow, Kate was cast in the play?" B: "Yep, it sounds like she really wowed the director with her singing voice." Did you hear? That director said she's always admired your work and will fight for you to be cast in her next movie!
