To have nothing to do, often resulting in boredom. Primarily heard in UK, Australia. Connie is at a loose end because she finished all of her chores early. My plans were canceled, so I'm at a loose end now. Want to go to the mall with me? I was supposed hang out with Jenny, but she's sick, and I'm kind of at a loose end.
