To be an easy, comfortable situation Often used in the negative to mean the opposite. After John complained about his long, tiring day at work, his father turned to him and said, "So your new job in construction isn't all roses, huh?" We have a really good marriage, but it's not all roses—there are a few issues we're always working on. Just because you're retired now doesn't mean things will be all roses all the time.
