be (just) as well

To be smart or prudent to do something. It's just as well to apply to a few other schools, too, in case you don't get into your first choice. It's just as well we brought our raincoats, because it looks like it's about to rain. It's just as well you were studying this weekend because it sounds like we're having a pop quiz.
