be (dead) set upon (something)

To have a strong (and sometimes inflexible) desire for something. We were all dead set upon traveling to Spain for the summer, until Lizzy broke her leg and we had to cancel it. Reginald is set upon accepting Lord Tandy's offer for the estate, and there is simply no changing his mind. If she's set upon green paint for the living room, good luck changing her mind.
