1. To be very upset or emotional. Sean has been really torn up since his wife left him. A: "Did you know that Joe died?" B: "I know, I can't believe it. I've been all torn up since I heard the news." Thank goodness you found our cat! We've been all torn up since she ran away.
2. To be very sorry and remorseful. She says she's all torn up about the whole thing, but I think she's just sorry she got caught. I know you're angry with him, but Tom is genuinely torn up about what happened. You have a clear shot at the trophy now, so I'm pretty sure you're not actually torn up about my disqualification.
3. slang To be very drunk. Do you remember last night at all? You were so torn up you could barely speak! Well, I must have been all torn up if I got up and did karaoke at the bar! Help him get home, will ya? He started drinking whiskey, and now he's torn up.
