bargain on (something)

To expect, anticipate, or plan on something or some situation. I didn't bargain on having to look after my daughter's children when I retired. I'm bargaining on having enough money saved by the end of the year to buy a brand new sports car. Aw man, I didn't bargain on all this traffic. Now we're definitely going to be late!
