back to the grind

Once again dealing with one's normal work or school routine, as after a hiatus or vacation. A: "How was your trip to the Greek islands?" B: "Oh, it was like a dream, truly one of the most wonderful experiences of my life. Back to the grind now, though." I have to admit that stepping away from work for my maternity leave was really nice. It's going to be hard going back to the grind. Everyone took a two-week break after the successful launch of our latest product, but now it's back to the grind.
