Shirking one's duties or responsibilities; not doing one's job. If the boss catches you asleep on the job like that again, you'll definitely get fired. Johnson was supposed to make sure the paperwork went through before the deadline, but it looks like he was asleep on the job. Our goalkeeper is such a nincompoop. We would have won that match if he hadn't fallen asleep on the job in the second half!
