A phrase used to highlight some action as typical or commonplace. It can also be used ironically to indicate something that one regards as very unusual or atypical. Primarily heard in UK. There's nothing going on between us—he just bought me a drink, as one does. He bought Valerie one too. A: "Yes, Adam just spent $2-million on his new house." B: "As one does!" Mom, I'm fine. I'm late getting home because I had to ask my teacher a question, as one does.
