2. Essentially; nearly the same as (some quality). The turkey is as good as finished, so please start setting the table. I'm as good as grounded if I don't get home before my curfew. A: "We have to call the police!" B: "No! The blackmailer told me I'd be as good as dead if I went to the cops!"
