alone in a crowd

Experiencing feelings of separateness, loneliness, or isolation while in the physical presence of others. When my depression is bad, I can go out with friends and feel utterly alone in a crowd. I love moving through the city by myself, feeling alone in the crowd, losing myself in the hustle and bustle of strangers. I hate feeling alone in a crowd. It's so strange to be surrounded by people and feel so completely alone at the same time.
