all fun and games

Very enjoyable and pleasant for the entire duration. This phrase is often used in the negative to convey difficulty or a lack of fun. College isn't all fun and games, you know. You need to take your schoolwork seriously, or you could put your future in jeopardy. It may sound cool, but making video games isn't all fun and games—a lot of very technical work goes into it. I didn't think that living at the beach would be all fun and games exactly, but I also didn't account for tropical storms and flooding!
