A very large number of (people, things, etc.). A great many people have joined the protest to voice their concerns over increased taxes. A: "Hey, I'm not your average Joe—I have a great many accomplishments under my belt." B: "Sure, Uncle Ned." It's not entirely fair that the bankers are the only ones getting criticized for the economic collapse, when a great many politicians are to blame as well.
