a cold send-off
a cold send-off
An instance in which one's departure is met with a palpable lack of affection, friendliness, or care. I was given something of a cold send-off by my former coworkers on my last day in the office. I guess leaving right in the middle of a project didn't really ingratiate me to anybody. He was surprised he got such a cold send-off when he retired—just a farewell card signed by a couple people from his department. I knew that leaving was the right decision, and the cold send-off I got from my former students just affirmed that.
